Day 1 arrival Cochin
On arrival at Cochin airport you are meet and greeted followed by Check in at hotel and relax. European influences are instantly apparent in this charming town picturesquely located on a number of islands squeezed between the Arabian Sea and the Kerala backwaters. The maritime history of Cochin is reflected in its blend of Dutch, Portuguese and British architecture.In the evening, the epic Ramayana comes to life at a Kathakali performance, traditional Keralan dance, where the characters use larger than life gestures, wear outrageous costumes and dramatic make up. Day 3 Cochin - Thattekad
Drive to Thattekad, a lowland forest with several types of eco-systems – Riverine, grasslands, evergreen, scrub, dry deciduous, lowland forest, enabling it to be one of the best birding destinations in India. This is also home to most of the endemics of the Western Ghats. The sanctuary is designed by the renowned ornithologist, Dr. Salim Ali. The Bombay Natural History Society has identified 253 species in Thattekkad. This bird sanctuary set in a peninsular land of 25 sq. km is covered with deciduous forests and plantations of rosewood, teak etc. Overnight in ThatekkadDay 4 Thattekad
Today you can undertake half day walking tour inside the Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary with an experienced naturalist. Rare birds like the Crimson-Throated Barbet, Bee-eater, Sunbird, Shrike, Black Winged Kite and the Night Heron are also commonly sighted. This rare haven offers picturesque landscapes, and is a nature lover's paradise. Optional to take Kayaking trip - Amidst these great swathes of forests is an ideal sport for those inclined to be adventurous and explore the bio-diversity within these forests. Travel to Thekkady /Periyar, The evocative name of the Cardamom Hills is home to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a reserve on the Kerala/Tamil Nadu border which is surrounded by tea and spice plantations. Lush forest, with a vast lake at its heart, is home to many indigenous animals.Afternoon Get to meet Indian kerala family, Learn to cook gourmet Keralan dishes and push the boundaries of your culinary skills. Day 7 THEKKADY
Morning proceed for escorted Nature walk in Periyar. This is aconservation-oriented hard trek taking up half a day, starting at 8am and ending at 11m, covering 05km. The route passes through undulating terrains. Altitudinal ranges of 900 meters to 1300 meters will be covered and trekkers obtain glimpses of the lofty escarpments bordering the park watershed and the vast plains down below. Gaur sloth bear, elephant etc. are often sighted along this route apart from birds and butterflies. The trekkers will go with a English speaking guide. Vegetarian refreshments can be had en route.Intensity Level of Nature Walks: High levels of fitness are not required to do this program. However, you need to be in general good health and used to walking.
Afternoon proceed Boat safari for the chance to cruise the lake at the heart of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. From the tranquility of the lake, enjoy the lush scenery all around you and keep a look out for animals that may come down to the water's edge – maybe a family of elephants, scurrying Wild Boar or the magnificent Sambar Deer.

Day 8 THEKKADY - ALLEPPEY
After Breakfast depart from hotel and drive through the beautiful landscape to reach the land of backwaters . Experience the daily lives of the locals from the decks of a house boat. Pass women washing their clothes in the river and farmers bathing their buffalo; watch as fishermen and vegetable sellers go from house to house by boat selling their wares; pass villagers standing up to their necks in water gossiping with their neighbour. Enjoy tasty local meals as the boat drifts along and watch as the sun sets over the ever-changing scenery before retiring to your cabin to be lulled to sleep by the gently lapping water (Overnight onboard House Boat) (Full board basis).Day 9 Alleppey - Marari
